When it was announced on Twitter that Mariah Carey cutting her hair short and dying it dark turned out to be an April Fools' joke orchestrated by one of the singer’s friends, I was kind of disappointed. It’s not that I wanted to see her with short, dark hair, because I doubt it would have suited her; it was more so that I wanted to see her with a different hairdo– of any kind.
It’s been about 10 years since Mariah has changed her hairstyle (if you class going from curly long to straight long much of a change) and it got me thinking of other celebrities who are also in a bit of a hair time warp and really need to update their hairstyle.
Angelina Jolie
While Angie does manage to break her straight long hairstyles up, pulling her locks into a messy bun does not make for a fashionable change. I miss the good old days when she had as many hairdo changes as tattoos!
Amanda Bynes
The beauty of having long, luscious locks is the versatility they give you, and Amanda just can’t seem to get past styling her hair out, long and straight. Boring.

Beyonce Knowles
While Beyonce is pretty good at trying out different hairstyles, she’s kept the same hair color and length for quite a while now, so I’m thinking she should let out her alter ego, Sasha Fierce, to see what hairdos she can come up with.
Â
Jennifer Aniston
I know, I know: it’s her signature look and it launched a hair trend that still fashionable over 10 years later, but I can’t be the only one who misses the chin length bob Jen sported a few years back.
Â
Taylor Swift
While it’s pretty hard to bag out such cool looking curls, I’m wondering how Taylor would look with a straight short hairstyle.

Now I know that it’s entirely possible that these celebrities have just found the hairstyle that suits them, or kept these looks because it’s good for their careers (after all, look at the turn around Britney Spears’ career made when she swapped stringy black locks, pink wigs and a shaved head for her tried and tested long blonde hair), but surely these celebrities can afford to try out a new hairstyle- even if it is just once.
